New Research Shows Plugged Wells and Decreased Injection Rates Diminish Induced Earthquake Occurrences in Oklahoma

Wastewater injection resulting from oil and gas production in Oklahoma caused a dramatic rise in seismic activity in the state between 2009 and 2015. But regulatory efforts to backfill some injection wells with cement and reduce injection volumes have been effective in lowering the state's induced earthquake rate, according to a new study. McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal Continues to Satisfy Customers Across Most Locations Through December

McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal remains available in most locations until December

The $5 Meal Deal from McDonald’s includes either a McDouble or a McChicken sandwich, a four-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, and a small drink. This value meal has kicked off competition among other fast-food chains.

The $5 Meal Deal was introduced this summer at McDonald’s as a limited-time offer, but it’s now set to stay on the menu well into the fall.

Launched in June, the $5 Meal Deal features a choice of a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, a four-piece order of Chicken McNuggets, a small order of fries, and a small soft drink. According to a company announcement on Thursday, this meal deal “will continue to be available, with many local markets extending it until December.”

The $5 Meal Deal, in conjunction with Wendy’s breakfast bundles, has sparked a rivalry over value meals, intensifying during the summer as fast-food companies like Jack in the Box and White Castle have jumped on board, along with restaurants like Chili’s and Olive Garden.

Reasons for the popularity of McDonald’s Meal Deal

McDonald’s introduction of this meal helped to enhance the restaurant’s appeal among lower-income customers who are particularly affected by rising food prices, and it has shifted “sentiment towards the brand regarding value and affordability,” commented Joseph Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, in July.

According to Erlinger, McDonald’s sold millions of $5 Meal Deals over the summer.

“Along with our franchisees, we are dedicated to keeping prices affordable, which is why we are increasing our efforts to provide even more savings,” Erlinger added.

A fun fact about the meal: 67% of the purchases included a McDouble, while 33% opted for a McChicken, shared McDonald’s.

More deals at McDonald’s besides the $5 Meal Deal

McDonald’s has several promotions lined up for the coming weeks. One ongoing offer is Free Fries Fridays, which provides a free medium order of fries with any purchase of at least $1.

For National Cheeseburger Day, a fun holiday celebrated on September 18, McDonald’s will feature 50-cent Double Cheeseburgers.

Customers should also explore the McDonald’s app for additional local deals. Recent promotions have included two McGriddles or Sausage Biscuits for $3.99 in Southern California and a 20-piece McNuggets for $5 in Dallas.

“Whether you stop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack, we aim for everyone to find their favorite food at a price that satisfies,” Erlinger said. “The continued availability of the $5 Meal Deal, along with other new offers for our fall lineup, showcases our commitment to providing great meals at reasonable prices.”
