Linda Ronstadt criticizes Trump’s ‘hate show’ at music hall bearing her name
Singer Linda Ronstadt has expressed her concern over former President Donald Trump organizing a rally at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall.
“Donald Trump is hosting a rally this Thursday in a venue named after me in my hometown of Tucson, Arizona,” Ronstadt posted on Instagram Thursday. “While I’d like to overlook this troubling reality, I feel compelled to speak up since the hall carries my name. It pains me to witness the former President bring his inflammatory rhetoric to Tucson, a community rich in Mexican-American heritage and known for its welcoming spirit.”
“My discontent goes beyond his harmful politics, disdain for women, immigrants, and people of color, as well as his dishonesty and lack of integrity,” she added.
Linda Ronstadt on Trump: ‘The pain he inflicted cannot be forgiven or forgotten’
“The crux of the issue for me is this: The Trump Administration’s policies led to the painful separation of migrant families seeking refuge at the southern border,” she pointed out. “This crisis turned many children into orphans and inflicted suffering on their desperate parents. It’s been labeled a humanitarian disaster by Physicians for Human Rights, who stated it meets the definition of torture.”
Ronstadt included a link to the nonprofit Physicians for Human Rights.
“The anguish he caused cannot be forgiven or forgotten,” she stated.
Other celebrities have recently spoken out against the former president, including Stevie Nicks, who urged her followers to register and support the candidate that aligns with their principles in an Instagram post shared the day after Taylor Swift backed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election following a debate with Trump.
Linda Ronstadt addresses JD Vance
After signing off her message, Ronstadt added a note directed at vice presidential candidate, Sen. JD Vance.
“I raised two adopted children as a single mother in Tucson,” she wrote. “Now, both are adults living in their own homes. I share mine with a cat. Does that make me a half-childless cat lady because I’m not married and didn’t give birth to them? Call me what you will, but this cat lady will proudly vote in November for @kamalaharris and @timwalz.”
