Billie Eilish Urges Fans to Cast Their Vote for Kamala Harris with the Weight of Their Future in Mind

Billie Eilish urges fans to vote for Kamala Harris ‘as if your life depends on it, because it truly does’

Billie Eilish shares a strong connection with Vice President Kamala Harris.

The 22-year-old singer of “Bad Guy,” along with her brother Finneas, 27, publicly supported Harris in a video released on Tuesday, coinciding with National Voter Registration Day.

Eilish expressed that they are casting their votes for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, “because they are committed to safeguarding our reproductive rights, our environment, and our democratic values.”

“We can’t allow extremists to dictate our lives, freedoms, and future,” Finneas stated. “Voting is the only way to challenge them and prevent the harmful Project 2025 agenda from succeeding.”

Eilish emphasized, “Vote as if your life is on the line, because it truly is.”

Former President Donald Trump has distanced himself from Project 2025, which is a controversial set of policy proposals created by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative groups for the upcoming administration.

During last week’s presidential debate with Harris, Trump stated, “I haven’t read it. I deliberately don’t want to read it. I’m not reading it. A group of people came up with some ideas, and I suppose some are good, some are bad. But it doesn’t really matter.”

Harris accused Trump of planning to enforce the “dangerous” agenda if he wins.

After the endorsement, Harris’ campaign aired an advertisement featuring Eilish’s song “When the Party’s Over.” In the ad, a woman reflects on her harrowing experience of becoming pregnant at 12 after being abused by her stepfather, noting that since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, “women and girls across the nation are losing their right to make choices.”

Eilish, who has won nine Grammys and enjoys immense popularity among younger audiences, had also backed President Joe Biden in the 2020 election and performed at that year’s Democratic National Convention. After turning 18, she stated that Trump was “ruining our country and everything important to us.”

“We must have leaders ready to address challenges like climate change and COVID, not ignore them,” she stated. “We need those who will combat systemic racism and inequality, starting by supporting a candidate who recognizes the stakes involved, someone building a team that aligns with our values. It starts with voting against Donald Trump and endorsing Joe Biden. We cannot be silent or abstain from this election.”

Eilish’s endorsement follows Taylor Swift’s backing of Harris last week, spurred by the vice president’s debate with Trump. In an Instagram post, Swift stated she is supporting Harris “because she stands up for the rights and issues that need a fierce advocate,” calling her a “steady and gifted leader,” and expressing confidence in what the country can achieve with calmness rather than chaos.

Trump subsequently reacted by posting an all-caps statement on his social media outlet Truth Social that read, “I hate Taylor Swift,” which prompted many celebrities to rally in support of Swift, saying, “I love Taylor Swift.”
