Young Driver’s Unexpected Joyride: 8-Year-Old Takes Mom’s SUV to Target Caught on Camera

8-Year-Old Drives to Ohio Target in Mother’s SUV: Dashcam Footage Released

The unidentified girl was having a Frappuccino when Bedford Police found her at a Bainbridge, Ohio Target.

An 8-year-old girl returned home uninjured after taking her mother’s SUV for a drive to a local Target in Ohio, according to police reports from Sunday, with dashcam video capturing her adventure.

The girl, who remains unnamed, was sipping a Frappuccino when police found her, as noted in a Bedford Police Facebook post.

“I’ve finally encountered a shopper more eager to get to Target than my wife,” the Bedford Police humorously remarked on their Facebook page. “This time, an 8-year-old took her mom’s vehicle this morning and headed straight for Target in Bainbridge.”

The Girl Was Safe, but Hit a Mailbox

Police located the girl after family members reported her and her mother’s 2020 Nissan Rogue missing just before 9 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Bedford Police report. A neighbor’s Ring camera recorded footage of the girl leaving with the SUV at around 7:00 a.m., with the little girl driving alone.

Dashcam footage revealed the SUV weaving and frequently changing lanes during her drive.

The girl was unharmed during her escapade but informed officers she had “struck a mailbox,” as per the police report. Authorities also noted some damage to the vehicle.

Found Enjoying a Frappuccino Inside the Store

The SUV was eventually found parked at the Target, about a 25-minute drive from her home. The girl was spotted inside the store, and her relatives quickly arrived to pick her up.

It remains unclear whether she made any purchases or if she utilized her Target app for 5% savings; however, police confirmed they allowed her to finish her Frappuccino. It is also unknown how she paid for her drink.

“We’re not heartless,” the Bedford Police stated in their post.
