‘Golden Bachelorette’: Temporary Restraining Order Against Gil Ramirez Leads to Removal from Show
Contestant Gil Ramirez has been removed from future episodes of ABC’s “Golden Bachelorette” following the news of a temporary restraining order issued against him. The order was granted due to allegations involving the 60-year-old educator from Mission Viejo, California.
Legal documents obtained by YSL News reveal that a 62-year-old woman he had been involved with requested a restraining order based on claims of “emotional harassment,” as per a filing made on June 11.
In her request, the woman stated, “Despite my requests for no contact, he continued to reach out multiple times each day to me and even my family and friends. He made approximately 25 calls daily and showed up at locations I frequent, confronting me regularly, despite living an hour away.”
The woman described that the alleged emotional abuse began in May, two weeks before her filing, and insisted that Ramirez stay away from her residence, job, vehicle, and her children’s school.
Records from the Superior Court of California indicate that the restraining order was eventually “dismissed” at a hearing on July 24 due to insufficient prosecution.
Ramirez, who was featured in the premiere of “Golden Bachelorette” on Wednesday night, received a rose from contestant Joan Vassos, allowing him to continue in the competition.
Sources familiar with the situation, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated to YSL News that the team at ABC and the “Golden Bachelorette” producers were only recently informed about the restraining order against Ramirez.
The source added, “This filing emerged during the brief time between our detailed background checks and the start of production. Consequently, we’ve now further reduced his limited screen presence and lessened his role in promotional materials.”
YSL News has reached out to Ramirez via ABC for his statements on the matter.
