Hayden Panettiere discusses her health following recent interview speculation
The star of “Amber Alert” shares insights into her health journey after a video interview with People magazine raised questions on social media.
Hayden Panettiere is confronting rumors directly.
The actress revealed details about her health in a candid Instagram post on Sunday after a recent video chat with People magazine led to online speculation.
“It’s hard to believe I’m in this situation, but I feel compelled to speak out in an environment where I won’t be judged for how quickly or slowly I communicate,” Panettiere expressed.
In the People interview released on Wednesday, she openly discussed her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere’s death, and her bond with her 9-year-old daughter, Kaya.
This video prompted a range of reactions on social media, with some users criticizing her speech and appearance.
“Struggles to articulate and slurred speech. Thoughts? Eyes glazed,” wrote @BarkJack on X.
“Hayden Panettiere, what happened?! 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️” commented user @RedPill_Goku_3 on X.
Meanwhile, others defended Panettiere, expressing concern for her well-being.
“The recent interview with Hayden Panettiere shows a lack of media ethics and PR support,” tweeted @contreciatharpe. “Her slurred speech has led to assumptions, but it’s the job of her publicist to protect her narrative, not expose her. She deserved better.”
“I genuinely hope Hayden Panettiere is okay,” tweeted @BarnOfDollars. “That interview didn’t showcase her at her best, but she articulated herself too well for me to instantly think she’s unwell. I’ve taken medication for anxiety and migraines that can affect speech.”
Panettiere has previously discussed her experiences with postpartum depression and substance abuse.
Hayden Panettiere describes feeling ‘exhausted’ during interview
In her Instagram post, Panettiere revealed she hadn’t slept for two days before her photoshoot and interview with People magazine, as one of her dogs was recovering from emergency surgery.
“The interview started on a positive note, and for the record, the beginning was not included in the version posted by PEOPLE Magazine,” Panettiere noted. “I was truly exhausted. My representative halted the interview early as it became clear I was growing fatigued — especially as the conversation turned more serious.”
The “Amber Alert” star shared that her team proposed to either redo the interview or follow up due to her evident tiredness, but they were told by the magazine’s interviewer that a reshoot “wasn’t needed.”
YSL News has reached out to People magazine for their perspective.
“Grief manifests differently for everyone. Whatever medication I may or may not be on is a private matter between me and my physician,” Panettiere continued. “I’m doing these interviews to promote my new film because I have pride in my work.”
She concluded her post by speaking out against the “toxicity of social media and the news cycle fueled by clickbait.”
“Mental health is incredibly important, and I hope those reading this realize that what you say from behind a computer can greatly affect someone,” Panettiere remarked. “As I’ve mentioned before, I am a work in progress. We all are.”
