Harley-Davidson Issues Recall for Over 41,000 Motorcycles: Check Which Models are Impacted
Harley-Davidson is recalling more than 40,000 motorcycles due to a risk of short circuits and the potential for increased crash hazards, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall, announced last week, affects certain models including FLHX, FLHXSE, FLTRX, FLTRXSE, and FLTRXSTSE, totaling 41,637 motorcycles.
The notice indicates that a wire connected to the voltage regulator may rub against components near the engine, causing wear that can expose the wire. This exposure could create short circuits, leading to sudden power loss that may catch the rider off guard, NHTSA cautioned.

Potential Risks from Damaged Voltage Regulator Harness
The NHTSA recall highlights an issue with the output wire from the voltage regulator, which might rub against the engine’s front corner or housing. Over time, this can lead to exposing the wire, causing electrical shorts that could leave riders without electrical power or ability to drive.
This problem could happen while the motorcycles are in motion, with no prior warning for the rider, according to the recall notice. A sudden power failure and inability to restart could significantly raise the chance of crashes.
Harley-Davidson mentioned there have been no known incidents involving crashes or injuries directly connected to this issue, but they did receive nine related field complaint reports.
