New Research Shows Plugged Wells and Decreased Injection Rates Diminish Induced Earthquake Occurrences in Oklahoma

Wastewater injection resulting from oil and gas production in Oklahoma caused a dramatic rise in seismic activity in the state between 2009 and 2015. But regulatory efforts to backfill some injection wells with cement and reduce injection volumes have been effective in lowering the state's induced earthquake rate, according to a new study. Lions Coach Dan Campbell Forced to Relocate After Daughter’s Classmate Unintentionally Reveals Family Address

Lions coach Dan Campbell relocates after a classmate of his daughter reveals their home address

(This story has been updated with new details.)

Last week, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell mentioned that his family had to change homes due to their address being leaked. A police report, which was acquired by the Detroit Free Press, sheds light on the situation.

The report reveals that Campbell’s family resided in Bloomfield Township, a suburb of Detroit, and their address was made public on Snapchat following the Lions’ defeat in the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers last January. This incident resulted in several individuals visiting their home shortly after the game concluded.

Campbell had previously stated that safety worries were the reason for their relocation.

Over the course of a month, law enforcement filed at least four reports regarding incidents at Campbell’s residence, starting from New Year’s Eve 2023 and continuing days after Detroit’s 34-31 loss to the 49ers, where Detroit squandered a 17-point halftime advantage.

The police report includes mentions of unexpected visitors at Campbell’s home, a stream of phone calls, and a Snapchat post that featured the family’s address, paired with a derogatory comment.

As stated in the report, Campbell’s teenage daughter felt frightened by these occurrences, prompting action from Lions and NFL security teams.

Investigators determined that a private school classmate of Campbell’s daughter was the one who shared the Snapchat post containing the offensive message. Law enforcement spoke with the classmate’s mother and subsequently interviewed the student.

“The classmate found the situation amusing  and mentioned he copied the address to create his own story, where he took a photo of the floor and included the address he had seen before,” noted the report.

The classmate explained to an investigator that he and his friends did not intentionally aim to visit the Campbell home, but they might have driven by it.

“He stated that they were affected by the NFC Championship loss and decided to drive to the Campbells’ neighborhood. While there, they shouted inappropriate remarks towards the house before leaving,” the report indicated.

The investigator further interviewed Holly, Campbell’s wife, but no criminal charges arose from the incidents.

According to the investigator, “Holly is mainly worried that their address is now public and fears that next season, people may exploit this knowledge when her husband is away.”

The Detroit News reported that there have been no police incidents reported regarding the Campbell family’s new home.

“With all due respect, I don’t even want to engage in any discussions about it,” Campbell stated last week when questioned about these events. “Everything is good. My primary focus is on my coaching responsibilities and ensuring the team is well-prepared every week.”
