The Campeones Cup is a yearly tournament that brings together the winners of the last MLS and LIGA MX seasons to compete for a trophy. This is the sixth iteration of the event.

 

You can think of it as North America’s equivalent to the Finalissima, which showcases the champions of Copa America against the UEFA Euro winners.

Columbus Crew pursuing another title

The Columbus Crew triumphed over LAFC 2-1 to win the 2023 MLS Cup, faced a defeat against Pachuca 3-0 at the Concacaf Champions Cup final on June 1, and finally overcame LAFC again with a 3-1 win in the Leagues Cup final on August 25.

 

The Campeones Cup presents Columbus Crew with a fourth opportunity to earn a trophy before the conclusion of the MLS season and the start of the MLS Cup playoffs.

They’ve been here before: After winning the MLS Cup in 2020, the Crew went on to win the Campeones Cup in 2021.
