Comrade Kamala Harris delivered an economic address in Pittsburgh, and frankly, it was lacking in two key elements that I expect from a serious leader: convoluted anecdotes unrelated to the economy and intense xenophobia.

Instead of entertaining me, Harris used her speech to outline a strategy and vision for the U.S. economy. She made promises like providing middle-class tax cuts for over 100 million Americans that include $6,000 for new parents during their child’s first year; collaborating with builders to introduce 3 million more homes to the market to decrease home prices, along with offering $25,000 in down payment assistance for first-time buyers; and doubling the number of registered apprenticeships while removing degree requirements for federal positions.

Oh really? And what about those electric boats that consistently sink and the folks being attacked by sharks? What are your thoughts on the assertion made by GOP presidential contender Donald Trump, confirmed by Fox News’ Sean Hannity, that America is a problematic dystopia and the only solution is to shout “TARIFFS!” at the top of our lungs?

What, Madam Vice President, do you have to say about the late, infamous Hannibal Lecter? No response? Not surprising.

While Harris provided details, Trump expressed raw emotion

Right before Harris took the podium in Pittsburgh and spoke with suspicious clarity and empathy, Trump was in North Carolina demonstrating how it’s truly done.

Trump, standing under a sign that proclaimed “JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!”, outlined his economic strategy by voicing his frustration over former President Barack Obama winning a Nobel Peace Prize, advertising his nearby golf course, and claiming that Iranians may wish him harm due to potential risks to their furniture-export industry.

“All of your furniture-makers will return, stronger and better than before,” Trump stated. “Most of them are gone, but they will come back. This is the reason people in other countries want to eliminate me. They aren’t pleased with me. It’s a dangerous business. This is why they seek to harm me. Only significant presidents face such threats, remember that.”

Absolutely right!

So Harris can stay on topic and articulate clearly? So what?

Trump continued to brilliantly illustrate how a genuine leader maintains focus: “I will quickly eliminate the chaos in the Middle East, and only I am able to do this. We have never been as close to a World War III as we are now, so near. I will ensure that World War III doesn’t happen, I’m the only one who can guarantee that. But we are indeed very close, and if it occurs, it will be a conflict like no other because I always say it’s not going to be just two army tanks. There are plans to convert our tanks to electric, but I won’t allow that. They want electric tanks that are so massive you’d need to tow a trailer behind them; can you believe it? They want electric tanks? They’re insane.”

True. Harris can present her policies and “sound coherent without appearing confused” and “seem genuinely concerned about people beyond her own interests.”

Harris spoke with empathy, which infuriates me.

She can express sentiments such as: “I remember when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, cooking meals for her, choosing clothes gentle enough not to irritate her skin, and telling her stories to bring her joy. Caregiving is fundamentally about dignity, and when we reduce costs and lessen the burdens people face, not only will it help them fulfill their caregiving duties, but it will also allow them more opportunities to work.”

This type of reflective discussion does not fuel my animosity toward those who are different from me. It’s pointless!

Trump shares questionable immigrant narratives

In a recent speech, Trump triggered a visceral reaction in me when he claimed: “But Kamala should have closed the border years ago and we wouldn’t have had hostile takeovers in places like Springfield, Ohio, and Aurora, Colorado, where armed individuals are entering with military-grade weapons, taking control of apartment buildings and real estate—congratulations, those young gang members from Venezuela who were allegedly sent here by their government.”

The mainstream media might dismiss that as absurd, but it resembles an illogical dream I had after a marathon of Fox News, thus I find it somewhat believable.

Fox News ignored Harris’s speech but highlighted Trump’s

On the topic of Fox News, I have learned from that channel that Harris is quite the enigma; she rarely lays out specifics regarding her policies and economic plans. So, did Fox News provide coverage of Harris’s speech, where she detailed her policy positions? No. It wasn’t even touched on during the live broadcast on the network’s X account.

That entirely makes sense to me. Many Americans are likely too busy to engage with sensible discussions from a liberal about the economy. Our focus should be on hypothetical armored vehicles and migrants with military-like firearms attempting to seize our homes, as well as on which of Trump’s upscale golf properties we can’t afford to visit.
