What’s today’s Google Doodle? Popcorn kernels race around in this Wednesday’s Doodle

Featuring one of America’s most beloved snacks, popcorn kernels will dash across the screen aiming to be the last kernel left unpopped. Here’s how you can participate in the game.

Pop, pop, pop! The delightful sound of popcorn fills the air on Wednesday as the global Google Doodle will celebrate this popular snack.

The engaging doodle will be available in the U.S. starting at noon ET on Wednesday, featuring a fun game revolving around the classic treat.

Popcorn ranks as a favorite snack in the U.S. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Americans munch on around 14 billion quarts of popcorn each year, averaging roughly 43 quarts per person nationwide.

Along with the fun popcorn-themed visuals, players can take part in a game where kernels from around the globe will compete against each other with one aim: to avoid getting popped.

This doodle is available for a short time, lasting until Thursday, September 26 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

How can I play the popcorn Google Doodle?

If you want to be the last kernel standing, joining the game is straightforward. Simply click on the doodle to start playing. Players can opt to play solo or invite friends to compete in what Google refers to as “squad mode.”

In solo mode, players can select a kernel with unique abilities and looks. Each kernel has distinct skills that help them dodge incoming projectiles and avoid being popped by butter. Squad mode retains the same features as solo mode while allowing friends to join in the fun.

When the game begins, the objective is simple: survive. Players can use the arrow keys to navigate around the board to evade projectiles, while the spacebar activates the kernel’s special ability when danger is near.

The last kernel remaining is declared the winner!
