Team USA Dominates Day One at the Presidents Cup

The 2024 Presidents Cup kicked off Thursday morning with Tony Finau hitting the opening tee shot. Partnered with Xander Schauffele, the American team faced Byeong Hun An and Jason Day from the International team at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in the first of five matches for the day.

Mackenzie Hughes from Canada, one of the International players sitting out, energized the crowd by downing a beer at the first tee.

Although this tournament lacks the intensity of the Ryder Cup, there were exciting moments, particularly when Tom Kim and Scottie Scheffler sunk impressive putts back-to-back.

As the players reached the nine-hole mark, the scoreboard displayed plenty of red for the Americans, though all matches remained closely contested until the U.S. team pulled ahead in the later stages.
