No. 9 Miami narrowly avoided an upset against Virginia Tech on Friday night, thanks to a contentious replay review.

The Hokies led for a substantial portion of the game before surrendering the decisive touchdown with just 1:57 remaining. They seemed to seal a remarkable victory with a Hail Mary touchdown caught by Da’Quan Felton amidst heavy traffic.

Initially, the referees on the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens ruled it a touchdown.

However, the chaotic play was reviewed, and after a lengthy discussion, the on-field touchdown call was overturned.

The officials provided little clarification on what prompted their change of decision.

The game concluded with Miami victorious at 38-34. The Hurricanes improved to a record of 5-0, while the Hokies fall to 2-3.

“That was a hard one to take.  I really hope they made the right call,” Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry said, as reported by Andy Bitter from Tech Sideline. “For our players, our coaches, and our fans, I sincerely hope they got it right.”
