Travis Hunter Poses for Heisman After Making Interception in Colorado’s Game Against UCF
Travis Hunter has been making a strong case for the 2024 Heisman Trophy during the first five games of Colorado’s season.
This past weekend, he took that narrative to the field.
Leading 34-14 against UCF, Hunter made a spectacular diving interception off Knights quarterback KJ Jefferson. After the play was called dead, he celebrated by running towards the end zone and striking the Heisman pose.
With his impressive contributions to the Buffaloes this season, he certainly feels justified in vying for college football’s top individual award.
As a talented wide receiver and defensive back, Hunter stands out as a rare dual-threat player in contemporary college football, especially impressive considering he plays high-altitude games and faced 80% humidity on Saturday in Orlando.
As he played nearly every snap for Colorado, Hunter came into the game with 37 receptions for 472 yards and five touchdowns on the offensive side, and on defense, he boasted 14 tackles, two pass break-ups, and one interception. He leads his team in receiving yards, touchdown receptions, and interceptions.
In the game against UCF, Hunter delivered one of his standout performances of the season.
By the time the fourth quarter began, the junior, standing 6-foot-1 and initially starting his college career at Jackson State before transferring to Colorado with coach Deion Sanders after the 2022 season, had tallied nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown, along with an interception and a pass break-up.
A victory over UCF would mean that the Buffaloes equal their total wins from the entire 2023 season, in which they recorded a 4-8 finish.
