GM Issues Recall Due to Brake Fluid Leak Risk

General Motors is recalling 18,325 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles from 2013-2019 that have optional GM-supplied body mounts. Their report indicates that the brake lines may be too close to the body mounts, which could lead to damage and ultimately a brake fluid leak. Such a leak could increase the chance of brake failure, raising the risk of an accident.

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 27,190 of its 2021-2023 S580 and Maybach S580 models due to a possible engine stall triggered by a mechanical failure in the Camtronic system, as indicated in the NHTSA report. This failure could cause the engine control unit (ECU) software to malfunction, potentially leading to overheating or stalling, which increases the risk of crashes. An overheated engine also poses a fire hazard.

Harley-Davidson is recalling 41,637 motorcycles over concerns of potential short-circuiting, which may raise the likelihood of crashes, according to the NHTSA.

The issue arises from a voltage regulator wire that could wear down from contact with nearby components around the engine, exposing the wire. NHTSA cautions that this could result in short circuits and sudden power loss without warning.

To resolve the problem, dealers will inspect the voltage regulator output wire harness and install a secondary retention strap at no charge. Mazda Recall for Airbags That Deploy Too Forcefully

Mazda is recalling 77,670 of its 2016-2023 MX-5 Miata vehicles due to a software defect in the airbag control module that can cause front airbags to deploy with excessive force in the event of a crash. This unintended force can heighten the risk of injury upon deployment, according to the NHTSA.

Moreover, this issue regarding the MX-5 Miata does not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, which pertains to “Occupant Crash Protection.”

To address this problem, dealers will be updating the Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) control module software. Owners will receive recall notification letters anticipated by November 17.
