National Taco Day starts the month off on October 1, adding some extra spice since it coincides with Taco Tuesday.

The celebration of tacos took a new turn recently when Taco Bell and the National Day Calendar announced that National Taco Day, previously observed on October 4, will now always take place on the first Tuesday of October.

This change followed Taco John’s giving up its “Taco Tuesday” trademark after a dispute over its ownership, allowing Taco Bell to launch an online petition to free the trademark so all food establishments could use it.

Marlo Anderson, founder of the National Day Calendar, stated, “We’ve always celebrated National Taco Day on October 4th, but there felt like a bigger chance to align this with something even more special – Taco Tuesday,” calling it “the Taco Tuesday of all Taco Tuesdays.”

This year, taco enthusiasts can find amazing deals available on both October 1 and October 4, and throughout the month. Here are the details on how to catch these offers.

Taco Bell’s National Taco Day Deals: $1 Tacos

Taco Bell has planned a day-long celebration on Tuesday with an hourly release of $1 tacos, starting at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT, where Taco Bell Rewards members can grab a crunchy taco for just $1. The first 10,000 deals will be available between 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT and 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, followed by additional 10,000 each hour until 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Taco John’s, which brands itself as “the original champions of Taco Tuesday,” is enhancing National Taco Day by giving members of its Bigger Bolder Rewards loyalty program a free Beef Stuffed Grilled Taco with any purchase on Tuesday, October 1.

Moreover, every Wednesday in October, starting with October 2, Taco John’s will offer rewards members exclusive deals.
