Jared Goff’s flawless performance had an unexpected twist.

The Lions triumphed over the Seahawks in their Week 4 “Monday Night Football” game, with Jared Goff leading the charge. The Detroit quarterback completed 18 passes out of 18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns, and also scored a touchdown by catching a pass.

You might expect such an outstanding feat would earn Goff the game ball, right? However, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was unaware of Goff’s perfect record, leading to a notable oopsie in the postgame celebrations.

“I just gave the game ball to somebody else,” Campbell admitted after the victory. “I feel terrible about this.

“I knew he played exceptionally well – I just didn’t realize he was perfect. I had no idea he was actually 18 for 18.”

Campbell chuckled about it but still took the time to commend his quarterback, despite not knowing Goff’s remarkable performance.

The Lions were dominating the Seahawks by halftime, but a tense third quarter led to a nail-biting finish. Ultimately, Goff’s crucial throw to Amon-Ra St. Brown secured the victory.

So, if not Goff, who got the game ball? The honors went to Detroit safety Kerby Joseph and wide receiver Jameson Williams. Joseph made the game-clinching interception, while Williams caught two passes for 80 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown catch.

While those Lions players deserved recognition, the significant oversight of the night was Campbell not handing the game ball to Goff.
