Potential Destinations for Davante Adams if Raiders Trade Him
Is the relationship between Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders coming to an end?
According to NFL Network, Adams has expressed his desire to be traded, and the Raiders might entertain offers for their six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.
Currently, Adams, 31, is sidelined due to a hamstring injury that kept him out in Week 4. There are growing concerns about his rapport with the Raiders, especially after his appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, which fueled speculation.
Although Adams’ contract extends until 2026, it becomes less guaranteed after this season. Could another team step in to acquire the veteran player? YSL News Sports explores five possible trade destinations for Adams.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Before acquiring 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk, the Steelers had set up trade discussions. They are looking for an additional receiving threat to complement George Pickens, the only Steelers receiver with over eight receptions ahead of Week 5.
As Justin Fields continues to improve as a passer within Steelers’ offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s system, they might be encouraged to actively seek a wide receiver.
The Steelers currently have around $10.5 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.
New York Jets
Could Adams be reuniting with Aaron Rodgers?
The chemistry between Adams and Rodgers from their time together with the Packers is well-known; they shared eight successful seasons. Adams had three seasons with over 100 receptions and 1,000 yards while they were teammates.
Rodgers has made it clear he would love to team up with Adams again as he mentioned in July.
Adams has shown interest in reconnecting with the quarterback.
“If I’m going to reunite with anyone, it would be Aaron,” Adams stated this offseason on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.
Moreover, with Rodgers and Garrett Wilson struggling to sync in 2024, the Jets may feel compelled to take action.
The Jets have $16.8 million in available cap space, according to Over the Cap.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have been hit hard by injuries among their wide receivers. The addition of Adams would significantly enhance Kansas City’s receiving group. His exceptional route running and catching abilities would make the Chiefs’ offense even more potent.
However, the likelihood of the Raiders trading Adams to a divisional rival in the AFC West seems very low.
The Chiefs have claimed the AFC West title for eight straight seasons, marking one of the longest streaks since 1970. They are presently leading the division by two games this year. Adams joining the Chiefs could potentially push them to a ninth consecutive AFC West title and establish them as strong contenders for a third Super Bowl win in a row.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys are in need of a dependable wide receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb.
Jalen Tolbert and Brandin Cooks have only managed a total of 22 catches and 251 receiving yards, while Lamb stands out with 20 receptions and 316 yards by himself. The Cowboys made very few adjustments to their offense during the offseason.
Adding Adams could significantly elevate the Cowboys’ offensive abilities. They haven’t had a route runner of Adams’ caliber since Amari Cooper’s departure.
The Cowboys have recently offered significant contract extensions to Lamb and Dak Prescott, yet they still have over $23.7 million in cap space available.
However, it’s important to note that they also need to prioritize a future extension for Micah Parsons.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers find themselves without a true No. 1 wide receiver after losing Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen. Adams would provide a genuine primary target for Justin Herbert.
Heading into Week 5, Los Angeles ranks as one of the weakest passing offenses in the NFL, with just 544 passing yards this season.
While the Raiders might be reluctant to deal Adams to a division rival, Chargers’ GM Tom Telesco and the organization could find a mutually beneficial arrangement. Telesco previously served as the Chargers’ GM from 2013–2023.
The Chargers have about $7.8 million in cap space, based on Over the Cap.
