‘Dynamic’ Prince dancer and choreographer Cat Glover passes away at 62

Cat Glover, a remarkable performer known for her work alongside the late singer Prince, has passed away.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Catherine Vernice Glover—better known as ‘Cat,'” states a post on the “Official Cat Glover” Facebook page on Tuesday.

<p”The post requested privacy for her children, family, and friends during this challenging period, adding that more information would be shared “in due time.”

Information regarding the circumstances of Glover’s death was not immediately available. The 62-year-old was discovered unresponsive in her Los Angeles residence, as reported by the Chicago Sun Times. Details about her funeral services, which will occur in the coming days, are yet to be announced.

“Dance with the Angels, we will miss you,” the post concluded.

Who was Cat Glover?

Glover gained recognition in the late 1980s after an unforgettable interaction with Prince at a nightclub. He invited her to dance with him to “Simply Irresistible” by Robert Palmer.

“I was in cowboy boots and Levi jeans. When we danced, he reached for my hands, but I had on leather gloves and couldn’t feel a thing. He started showing me dance moves, and I followed his lead; whatever he did, I copied,” Glover recounted in a blog interview in 2013. “I think he noticed this, so he began to dance even more, and so did I.”

That evening, Glover said, marked the beginning of her journey.

Afterward, she collaborated closely with Prince, lending her voice, dance skills, and choreography to productions like the 1987 “Sign o’ the Times” tour and concert film, as well as the 1988 “Lovesexy” tour, according to the Sun Times. Glover also created the “Cat Scat,” a dance move that premiered on “Star Search” in 1986.
