Week 5 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

  • STOCK UP: Jordan Love had an impressive performance as the QB2 against the Vikings in Week 4 and will now take on a comparatively easier opponent in the Rams, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.
  • STOCK UP: Justin Fields was the only quarterback to outscore Love last week, amassing 367 total yards and three touchdowns (two rushing) for a total of 32 fantasy points. Over his last 14 starts, Fields has ranked as a top-eight quarterback in half of those games. He has a favorable matchup against Dallas, which has been generous to quarterbacks, giving up the ninth-most fantasy points and the second-most rushing yards.
  • STOCK DOWN: Trevor Lawrence has struggled, finishing as the QB16 or worse in all four weeks so far. In his last 19 games, he has only finished higher than QB10 three times. While the Colts have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, it’s wise to temper expectations.
  • STOCK DOWN: Sam Darnold is currently experiencing an unsustainable touchdown rate of 10.6%, which is significantly above the previous high of 6.9% since 2020. He may face a tough time against a Jets defense that has allowed the least fantasy points to quarterbacks since last season.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings

  • STOCK UP: D’Andre Swift excelled against the Rams in Week 4, rushing for 165 yards and scoring one touchdown. He is averaging 18.7 touches per game since Week 1, making him a strong play against a Panthers team that recently allowed 170 yards and three touchdowns to Chase Brown and Zack Moss.
  • STOCK UP: Alexander Mattison is set to take the lead in the Raiders backfield with Zamir White out due to a groin injury. Mattison has performed well in a limited role and is among the top 15 running backs in yards after contact, both running and receiving. He’s a solid option as a top-24 player.
  • STOCK DOWN: Brian Robinson Jr. is questionable for Sunday due to a knee injury but will likely play. However, his RB1 potential from last week is diminished. In half-PPR formats, he has only finished higher than RB10 once in his last 17 games, and the return of Austin Ekeler impacts his value. Additionally, the Browns have given up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to running backs.
  • STOCK DOWN: Zack Moss saw only slightly more touches than Chase Brown in Week 4, and a shared workload might not be enough against Baltimore. The Ravens have limited running backs to just 2.7 yards per carry so far this season, the best in the league.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings

  • STOCK UP: Amari Cooper was held back by a questionable holding call last week, which kept him from being a top-five receiver again. This week, he will face a Washington secondary that has allowed the most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.
  • STOCK UP: Dontayvion Wicks stands to gain significantly from the injury to Christian Watson, and with Romeo Doubs suspended, he will be a primary target for Green Bay. Wicks was targeted 13 times against Minnesota in Week 4, catching 78 yards and two touchdowns. He’s in for an enticing matchup against the Rams in Week 5.
  • STOCK DOWN: D.J. Moore has the seventh-most targets among receivers this season, yet his highest finish is WR31. A combination of game script and Keenan Allen’s presence led to a season-low of six targets in Week 4, and he may not fare much better against the Panthers this week.
  • STOCK DOWN: Jakobi Meyers turned 10 targets into just 5 catches for 49 yards with no touchdowns last week, and with a matchup against Patrick Surtain II and the Broncos, he might be best left on the bench.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings

  • STOCK UP: Travis Kelce is in an excellent position to reclaim his status as the elite fantasy tight end with Rahsee Rice sidelined, potentially making him a candidate for being the top tight end overall. He has had a substantial 33.7% target share through Week 3.
  • STOCK UP: Tucker Kraft is also likely to benefit from the reduced target pool in Green Bay. With Watson and Doubs both out, Kraft is a secure top-10 option in a thin tight end landscape.
  • STOCK DOWN: Dalton Schultz was the TE18 with Tank Dell absent in Week 4. It may be time to consider dropping the veteran tight end in most leagues.
