Volkswagen recall due to faulty brake component

Volkswagen is recalling 1,467 units of its 2024 Atlas and 2024 Atlas Cross Sport models. According to a report from NHTSA, “the brake master cylinder might have been assembled with the wrong secondary piston spring retainer, potentially blocking the brake fluid port.” This blockage can lead to brake failure, heightening the risk of an accident.

The automaker will replace the faulty brake master cylinder free of charge. Recall notices are expected by Nov. 26. For more information, owners can contact Volkswagen Customer Relations at 1-800-893-5298. The recall code for this issue is 471F.

Mercedes-Benz recall due to potential airbag malfunction

Mercedes-Benz is recalling 10,655 of its 2021-2022 GLE 350 and 2021-2022 GLE 450 vehicles. The report noted that “the wiring harness for the front acceleration sensor may be incorrectly routed, which could impede the proper deployment of the front airbags.” If the airbags do not deploy correctly, this could lead to a higher risk of injury in a crash.

Additionally, the NHTSA report indicated that these vehicles do not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208 regarding ‘Occupant Crash Protection.’

Dealers will inspect and, if needed, reroute the wiring harness at no cost. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent by Nov. 26. Owners can reach MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.

  • 2021-2022 GLE 450

Harley-Davidson recall for inaccurate tire pressure labeling

Harley-Davidson is recalling 12,929 of its motorcycles from the 2018-2019 models. The NHTSA report mentioned “the front tire inflation pressure listed on the VIN label may be lower than the actual front gross axle weight rating.” Incorrect tire pressure details could lead to overloading the front tire, thereby increasing the risk of an accident.

The motorcycles do not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120 regarding “Wheels and Rims – Other than Passenger Cars,” according to the report.

To fix the issue, Harley-Davidson will send new labels along with installation instructions and owner’s manual inserts to affected owners at no charge. Recall notification letters should be sent out by mid to late November 2024. Owners can call Harley-Davidson customer service at 414-343-4056. Nissan advises owners to avoid using Level 3 quick charging until the issue has been resolved. Dealers will provide a software update for the battery at no cost. Tesla issues recall for rearview camera problem

Tesla has recalled 27,185 units of its 2024 Cybertruck. The NHTSA notes that “the rearview camera image may appear delayed after the vehicle shifts into reverse.” This delay can lead to the driver not seeing what is behind them, increasing the possibility of an accident.

Furthermore, the NHTSA reported that the Cybertruck does not meet the standards outlined in the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111 regarding “Rear Visibility.”

To address this issue, Tesla has launched an over-the-air software update for the affected owners, at no charge. Notification letters for the recall are set to be sent by November 25. Owners can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752, using recall number SB-24-00-016.

Stellantis recalls

Ram 1500 called back for turn signal issues

Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, is recalling 129,313 units of the 2023-2024 Ram 1500. According to the NHTSA, “the turn signal self-canceling feature may not operate as intended.” If the turn signal does not work correctly, it could confuse other drivers regarding the vehicle’s direction change, thus heightening the crash risk.

The NHTSA pointed out that the Ram 1500 does not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108 regarding “Lamps, Reflective devices, and Associated Equipment.”

Frank Matyok, a Stellantis spokesperson, stated, “Customer feedback led us to investigate and find that the steering column control modules in some 2023 and 2024 Ram 1500 trucks may not meet specifications, preventing the self-canceling feature from operating properly.”

Fortunately, there have been no injury reports associated with this issue. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering column control module at no charge. Recall letters are expected to be sent out by October 29. Owners can reach Chrysley customer service at 1-800-853-1403, using recall number A1B.

“Affected vehicles can still have their turn signals manually canceled,” Matyok mentioned.

Here’s a breakdown of the recalled Ram 1500s across several countries:

Stellantis stated that there have been 13 reports of fires occurring in parked vehicles connected to this issue. The company estimates that approximately 5% of the recalled vehicles could have this defect.

Dealers are set to update the battery pack software and will replace the battery pack assembly at no cost if required. Notifications about the recall will be sent out on October 17. Vehicles previously recalled for this issue under NHTSA Recall 23V-787 must undergo the new remedy.
