Elimination Showdown: Who Facing the Chopped Rope Bridge Went Home in Episode 2 of ‘The Summit’?

Who was eliminated in Episode 2 of ‘The Summit’ during the rope bridge challenge

In the latest installment of CBS’s reality competition series “The Summit,” participants are once again reminded of the ruthless nature of their incredible adventure.

This show documents a group of strangers who must unite to climb a mountain in New Zealand’s Southern Alps. While they navigate the trek, each contestant carries a share of the $1 million prize, distributed among them, in their backpacks as they pass various checkpoint camps. At these camps, they face the challenge of voting each other off. Additionally, they must confront obstacles and make tough decisions presented by “The Mountain Keeper.”

During Wednesday’s episode, teams formed alliances and devised plans as they progressed toward the peak of Mount Head. If the remaining group cannot reach the summit within 14 days, they will all leave without any prize.

By the conclusion of the episode, only 12 hikers remained after another voting elimination and a shocking twist where one contestant severed a rope bridge while another was crossing. (Spoiler alert: if you want to avoid spoilers, stop reading here.)

Who was eliminated on the rope bridge?

Bo Martin, a 52-year-old teacher from East Texas, was the contestant eliminated during this week’s intense challenge, marking one of the show’s most touching moments.

For this challenge, the 14 remaining hikers had to cross a precarious bridge over a gorge, which had missing and dangling parts. They needed to also carry pieces to build the path as they crossed one at a time.

The group selected Georgia neuroscientist Geoff Green, 28, to be the first to go. As he stepped onto the bridge, the Mountain Keeper’s helicopter hovered above, unleashing a harsh twist: every person who crossed must choose who goes next until only one remains, and then the bridge would be cut beneath their feet.

Jeannie Geyer, a 56-year-old grocery store worker from New York, was the third-to-last participant to cross and was forced to decide between Bo and 37-year-old barber Pati Arana from Southern California. An emotional moment occurred when Bo told Pati, “You better be the last one to give me a hug at the end.”

After making it across, she was instructed to lure Bo into his elimination spot, prompting her to break down in tears.

As Geoff cut the bridge, Bo said, “I’m coming for you, Pati,” leading to his untimely exit. Thus, the money he carried was eliminated, reducing the prize pool to $875,000, as the total amount decreases with every elimination unless a person is voted out.

Who was voted out of ‘The Summit’?

At the end of Wednesday’s episode, Shweta Choudhury, a 28-year-old corporate strategist from Toronto, was voted off the show.

Shweta had allied with Dennis Cho, a 29-year-old trauma nurse from Indianapolis, and they strategized to vote out Punkin Jackson, a 33-year-old Air Force member from Columbus, as she posed a threat due to her bond with Geoff. However, it was Beckylee Rawls, a 27-year-old construction worker from San Diego, who spoke out against Shweta, expressing that she found her insincere.

With 12 votes counted against her, the tactical player had to empty her pack and exit the mountain. Dennis chose to vote for Shweta, understanding that survival was key and he didn’t want to be the odd person out.

“I didn’t make it to the summit and I was kicked off by all my friends. They took out someone who was strategic, loyal, and performing well in the hikes,” Shweta reflected in her confessional. “Let’s see how they cope without me.”

Who is hosting ‘The Summit’?

The reality series “The Summit” is hosted by New Zealand actor Manu Bennett.

Bennett is widely recognized for his roles in “Spartacus,” “Arrow,” and “The Hobbit” films.

Where is ‘The Summit’ being filmed?

The filming of CBS’s “The Summit” took place in New Zealand’s Southern Alps. The participants kick off their 14-day adventure at Lake Wakatipu close to Glenorchy, which is located on the South Island.
