Krispy Kreme is teaming up with McDonald’s, and you can score a complimentary doughnut as a part of this collaboration.

This collaboration was announced earlier this year, with plans for a gradual introduction of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to McDonald’s locations across the nation, aiming for full availability by the end of 2026.

The first step is set for Tuesday, Oct. 15, when Krispy Kreme will start supplying McDonald’s in the Chicago area with Original Glazed and other fresh doughnuts.

To kick off this partnership, participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide will be offering customers a free Original Glazed doughnut starting this Thursday through Oct. 14, provided they present a receipt from McDonald’s dated between Oct. 10 and Oct. 14.

Krispy Kreme’s President and CEO, Josh Charlesworth, stated in a news release, “One of the most common requests we receive is for more access to our fresh, delicious doughnuts. Having our products in McDonald’s is a fantastic opportunity for our fans, and we are thrilled to celebrate this by offering guests who also dine at McDonald’s a complimentary Original Glazed doughnut.”

Details on the Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s partnership

Krispy Kreme aims to have fresh doughnuts available daily at over 1,000 McDonald’s locations by the end of 2024, expanding to 12,000 locations by the end of 2026.

Last year, both companies began testing the sale of doughnuts in 160 McDonald’s outlets in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky areas. These test locations will continue to offer Krispy Kreme doughnuts during the national rollout.

The doughnut varieties to be available at McDonald’s in the Chicago area starting Oct. 15 include:

• Original Glazed Doughnut.
• Doughnut with Chocolate Icing and Sprinkles.
• Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut.
