Over 40,000 Nissan vehicles recalled due to rear-view camera problems

Two distinct recalls were announced on October 3.

The first recall involves 37,236 Nissan Rogue and Infiniti QX80 vehicles. This is due to a software glitch that “might lead to the rearview camera showing a black screen while reversing.”

The second recall affects an additional 3,230 Infiniti QX80 vehicles equipped with an Around View Mirror system, which also suffers from a software issue that “can cause the rearview camera to freeze and show a black screen when reversing.”

The NHTSA observed that “these vehicles do not meet the standards outlined in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, ‘Rear Visibility.’

Nissan plans to start implementing over-the-air software updates by late October as a solution.

For vehicles that cannot receive these updates or those affected by the Around View Mirror system, dealership personnel will update the software at no cost.

Owners can expect recall notifications to be sent out by November 21. The recall identification numbers are R24B3, R24B4, and R24B5.
