Jacksonville Jaguars trade DL Roy Robertson-Harris to Seattle Seahawks

As the NFL trade deadline approaches in less than a month, the first trade of the 2024 regular season was made on Monday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially traded defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris to the Seattle Seahawks. In exchange, the Jaguars will receive a sixth-round draft pick for 2026, according to various reports.

Robertson-Harris is 31 years old and this season has mainly played in a backup capacity, participating in 50% of the defensive plays after starting for the previous three seasons with Jacksonville. Over six games, he has recorded five tackles and two sacks.

Even though he still has two years left on his contract, he does not have any guaranteed salary after this season.

In Seattle, he is expected to add depth to a defensive line that recently struggled, allowing the San Francisco 49ers to gain 228 rushing yards on 39 attempts during the Seahawks’ 36-24 defeat last Thursday.

With a record of 1-5, the Jaguars face uncertainty regarding potential trades before the November 5 deadline. Owner Shad Khan has expressed his continued trust in coach Doug Pederson, especially in light of Sunday’s 35-16 loss to the Chicago Bears in London, while safety Andre Cisco remarked that the team showed “a lot of quit” in that game. Meanwhile, Pederson indicated that there is a need to change the team’s culture.
