Aerial Perspective: Tornado’s Devastation Unveiled at Florida Solar Farm Near Milton

Drone Footage Reveals Tornado Damage at Florida Solar Farm Following Milton

Aerial video captured after the tornados associated with Hurricane Milton struck the U.S. last week highlights the significant destruction a tornado can cause.

The video, released by Duke Energy, a North Carolina-based power and gas company, showcases the aftermath at a solar panel field in Florida. Filmed on October 10 at the Lake Placid Solar Power Plant in Sylvan Shores, it reveals a clear path of devastation cutting through the solar panels.

Within the field, where thousands of solar panels continue to stand—enough to supply energy to 12,000 homes—a jagged line of twisted metal debris is visible, stretching nearly across the affected area, which is now littered with remnants of the storm.

Highlands County, home to the solar installation, reported at least one injury on Wednesday due to significant destruction at the Tropical Harbor Mobile Home Park as a result of the tornado, according to Fox 13 News.

As of Tuesday, Duke Energy’s outage map indicated that 46,809 customers in Florida were still without power.

In total, over 400,000 residents in the state are experiencing power outages as emergency teams address extensive power failures and fuel shortages.
