Jerry Jones of the Cowboys gets heated during a lively radio chat: ‘That’s not your job’
Jerry Jones is fed up with criticism.
The owner of the Dallas Cowboys made his usual appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, but this time his attitude was noticeably different. Engaging in playful banter with the show’s hosts is common, especially following a tough defeat. However, on Tuesday, Jones was particularly intense in his responses.
When questioned about the Cowboys and their strategy during the offseason, Jones pushed back forcefully, even hinting that he could replace the hosts due to their line of questioning.
“This isn’t your role. It’s not your responsibility to let me list all the reasons I did something and how I regret it. That’s not your role. I might as well find someone else to ask these questions, seriously,” Jones expressed during a passionate outburst.
“You won’t uncover what the team is doing right or wrong. If you or anyone else thinks you can, you should join me at the NFL meeting today. There are 32 teams here, and you’re all geniuses.”
“Do you really think you can sit here with a microphone and point out all my mistakes without acknowledging any successes?”
The Cowboys have struggled this season, showing an uninspiring record of 3-3 as they head into their Week 7 bye. In their previous game, they suffered a significant 47-9 loss to the Lions.
Jones has accepted considerable criticism regarding this season’s outcomes, following a quiet offseason where their biggest acquisition was re-signing running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys’ owner also reiterated his commitment to an “all in” approach regarding the offseason.
“We are very pleased with our moves in free agency,” Jones stated in April. “We’re all in. All in. All in. We’re fully committed to these young players and the draft.”
If the Cowboys don’t start winning soon, they might find themselves out of the playoff race.
