Ethel Kennedy’s Memorial Service Will Feature Joe Biden’s Eulogy in Washington

A memorial service honoring Ethel Kennedy is planned for Wednesday in Washington.

Kennedy passed away at the age of 96 on October 10, following a stroke just a week before, as informed by her family. Her funeral took place in Hyannis, Massachusetts, on Monday.

According to his schedule shared by the White House, President Joe Biden will deliver the eulogy during the Wednesday service, which will also be attended by former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Ethel Kennedy was the spouse of Robert F. Kennedy, who was the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy. Robert was tragically assassinated in 1968 while he was campaigning for the presidency. The couple had a large family, consisting of 11 children.

The memorial service is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, confirmed by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization. Ethel Kennedy was a key founder and board member of this organization.

“Ethel Kennedy was an iconic figure in America—she embodied hope, moral strength, and resilience. She dedicated herself to her family and her country, with an unwavering spirit and a generous heart that inspired countless Americans, myself included,” Biden stated in a release on October 10. “We were fortunate to call her a cherished friend.”
