Cooking Instructions for Popeyes Cajun-Style Turkey

Follow these steps for preparing your Cajun-style turkey:

 

  • Thaw for 72 hours in the fridge or in cold water (changing the water every hour). Popeyes emphasizes “DO NOT thaw at room temperature. Keep in sealed plastic while thawing.”
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Remove any packaging, but keep juices.
  • Place the turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan and pour the juices into the pan.
  • Tightly cover with aluminum foil around the edges of the pan.
  • Cook on the lower oven rack for 1.5 hours.
  • After 1.5 hours, remove the foil and continue heating the turkey for an additional 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit as checked with a meat thermometer inserted into the deepest part of the breast (avoid touching the bone).
  • Allow the turkey to rest for 20 minutes before carving.
  • If desired, reserve the drippings from the pan for making gravy.
