Chiefs Owner Remains Unfazed by Harrison Butker’s PAC Targeting Christian Voters

Chiefs Owner Unbothered by Harrison Butker’s PAC Aimed at ‘Christian Voters’

The owner of the Kansas City Chiefs expressed no concerns regarding the political activities of kicker Harrison Butker, who recently launched a political action committee aimed at “reclaiming traditional values” in America.

On Saturday, Butker shared on social media his establishment of Upright PAC, which is intended to inspire and mobilize Christian voters. He also voiced his support for Senator Josh Hawley to retain his Senate position in Missouri.

During a media session on Wednesday, team chairman Clark Hunt addressed inquiries about Butker’s political engagement.

“Every year at training camp, I encourage players to utilize their platforms for positive change. We have team members who hold a variety of political views and opinions on controversial matters,” he stated. “I’m not concerned at all when our players advocate for their beliefs using their platforms.”

On the Upright PAC website, there are visuals of Butker along with the message: “join Harrison Butker and countless others,” featuring a picture of Butker with Hawley.

The site states, “Our values are under constant threat—from our schools and media, even from our own government. But we can fight back and restore the traditional values that have made this nation exceptional.”

The Kansas City Chiefs, recent Super Bowl champions, have found themselves in the midst of the NFL’s political landscape this season. In May, Butker delivered a graduation address at Benedictine College where he expressed his opposition to Pride Month, transgender rights, and the COVID-19 pandemic, notably commenting on women’s roles in society.

“I believe that women have been subjected to some of the most deceptive messages,” Butker remarked. “While some may pursue successful careers, I would suggest that many are more excited about establishing families and raising children.”

Butker’s statements stirred up reactions within the team, with players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce publicly disagreeing with him, although indicating they would assess him based on their personal interactions. Coach Andy Reid emphasized that all team members “respect each other’s views.” The NFL distanced itself from Butker’s remarks.

Later, in September, pop superstar Taylor Swift, dating Kelce, expressed her support for Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign. In response, former President Donald Trump stated he prefers Brittany Mahomes, Patrick’s wife, over Swift. Following Trump’s comments, Mahomes brushed them off, asserting he would not back any candidate but instead aims to inform people on voter registration.
