Bed Bath & Beyond Makes a Comeback with The Container Store Collaboration

Bed Bath & Beyond set to return after partnership with The Container Store

If you’ve been hoping for the return of Bed Bath & Beyond, good news is on the way.

Despite filing for bankruptcy and shutting down in 2023, Bed Bath & Beyond has transitioned to an online-only model after being acquired by Overstock, which now owns its intellectual property.

In June 2023, Overstock confirmed it had finalized the acquisition of the Bed Bath & Beyond brand, customer database, website domain, and additional intellectual assets.

Now, the store is set to fulfill its customers’ desire for a physical shopping experience once again.

The Container Store made an announcement on Tuesday regarding a strategic collaboration where Bed Bath & Beyond products will be available through its retail locations, according to the press release.

“We are thrilled about the possibilities this partnership brings,” stated Satish Malhotra, CEO of The Container Store. “Beyond’s excitement for this collaboration is showcased in their planned investment in The Container Store, which will enhance our financial standing, support our growth strategy, and provide an exceptional experience for our customers.”

Here’s what you need to know about the collaboration between Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store.

Owner of Bed Bath & Beyond invests in The Container Store

Additionally, Beyond Inc, the parent company of Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock, and Zulily, has agreed to invest $40 million in The Container Store as part of “a preferred equity deal contingent on certain terms, including a modification or refinancing of The Container Store’s credit facilities in a manner acceptable to Beyond,” according to the release.

“By licensing the Bed Bath & Beyond brand, The Container Store will enhance its offerings and store format with the most sought-after Bed Bath & Beyond products, improving financial performance and providing customers with a wider range of home and organizational solutions,” commented Marcus Lemonis, Executive Chairman of Beyond, Inc.

As mentioned in the press release, the two companies aim to:

  • Utilize The Container Store’s 102 locations to launch the Bed Bath & Beyond brand with products for kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms that will carry both brands’ names.
  • Provide a loyalty program, various payment options, and protection offerings through both The Container Store’s physical stores and online platform.
