Harris Celebrates 60th Birthday with a Series of Church Visits in Atlanta as 2024 Campaign Heats Up

Kamala Harris Celebrates 60th Birthday with Church Visits in Georgia During Final 2024 Campaign Push

On Sunday, Democrat Kamala Harris will celebrate her 60th birthday with two church visits in Georgia, aiming to encourage early voters. Meanwhile, her Republican competitor, Donald Trump, is scheduled to spend time at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania.

Both Harris and Trump are practically neck and neck in crucial battleground states, and in recent days have intensified their campaigns to gather support for both mail-in and in-person early voting, just 16 days before the Nov. 5 election.

Following appearances with rapper Lizzo in Detroit and pop icon Usher in Atlanta, Harris will receive birthday surprise from music legend Stevie Wonder at one of the churches she plans to visit on Sunday.

Vice President Harris and former President Trump, 78, are concentrating their efforts on Pennsylvania, Michigan, and a few other states that will be pivotal in determining the election, where both parties enjoy strong backing and past electoral outcomes have been closely contested.

Harris, alongside her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will promote a “Souls to the Polls” initiative. This effort aims to mobilize voters through gospel music performances and appearances by local and national faith leaders, elected officials, and more.

She will also speak at Divine Faith Ministries International in Jonesboro, located just south of Atlanta, urging worshippers to exercise their right to vote, with Stevie Wonder also attending and expected to perform.

After the church events, Harris will film an interview with civil rights leader Al Sharpton, set to air Sunday night on MSNBC.

Meanwhile, Walz will attend a service in Saginaw, Michigan, while his wife, Gwen Walz, will go to a church in Las Vegas.

To replicate President Joe Biden’s 2020 victories in Michigan and Georgia, Harris must secure strong support in predominantly non-white cities like Detroit and Atlanta, along with their suburbs.

Trump, after increasing his personal attacks on Harris on Saturday, announced he would be working at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania on Sunday “just for fun” as a jab at her. His advisor, Jason Miller, mentioned that Trump would be in charge of the french fries section of the restaurant.

Although Harris claims she worked at a McDonald’s in her youth, Trump states he does not believe her.

Additionally, Trump is slated to hold a rally in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, later in the afternoon.

The former president is looking to capitalize on what he perceives as an improved position reflected in polls that show a tightly contested race. Some voters in Pennsylvania have already obtained mail-in ballots, which is the most significant state on Election Day among the battlegrounds.
