Honda recalls over 700,000 vehicles due to fuel leak concerns: Check out the list of affected models

This month, Honda has issued a second major recall affecting more than 700,000 cars for potential fuel leaks stemming from a cracked fuel pump.

Last week, Honda, alongside the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced the recall, which impacts certain models of the Honda Accord, Civic, and Hybrid, totaling 720,810 vehicles that could be affected.

The recall notice revealed that defective manufacturing of high-pressure fuel pumps can lead to cracks that may worsen during operation. This situation can result in fuel leaks, thereby raising the risk of accidents, according to a warning from the NHTSA.

This recent recall follows another one from Honda earlier this month, which involved 1.7 million vehicles due to steering wheel problems.

Potential fuel leak from pumps

As stated in the recall information provided to the NHTSA by Honda, the high-pressure fuel pumps in the affected vehicles may crack and cause fuel leaks.

Honda stated that the issue arose due to improper production methods for high-pressure fuel pumps, which may create cracks in the fuel pump’s core component, leading to fuel leaks. If this leak occurs close to an ignition source, the risk of fire, collision, or injury increases significantly.

Some owners have observed a gasoline smell while their vehicles were running or idling.
