Federal Court Directs Rudy Giuliani to Relinquish Opulent Condo yet Retain His World Series Rings

Judge instructs Rudy Giuliani to relinquish luxury apartment, but allows him to keep World Series rings for now

Rudy Giuliani’s son, Andrew, can hang onto his father’s three World Series championship rings — at least for now.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman ordered Giuliani to turn over his property to pay a $145 million civil judgment. This judgment stems from Giuliani’s defamatory remarks about two election workers in Georgia following the 2020 elections, in which he falsely accused them of tampering with ballot boxes.

The properties involved include a high-end apartment located on Madison Avenue in New York and a $2 million claim for legal costs linked to former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee.

Judge Liman explained that taking possession of the assets would simplify the process for the election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, to sell them. Giuliani had requested a delay until November 6 to begin the legal fee collection process from Trump, arguing that it could disrupt the upcoming elections with misleading claims. Liman dismissed this request as ridiculous.

Judge Liman noted, “The irony in the defendant’s apparent concern is not lost on the Court. He admitted to defaming the plaintiffs by spreading falsehoods about them.”

The determination of who owns the World Series rings will be addressed separately, as Andrew Giuliani has claimed ownership since 2018.

Additionally, there will be a hearing on the status of Giuliani’s condo in West Palm Beach, Florida, scheduled for October 28.

Giuliani is also required to hand over various memorabilia, including Yankees collectibles like a photo of Reggie Jackson, a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey, a vintage Mercedes owned by Lauren Bacall, jewelry, and luxury watches from Bulova and Rolex.

No comment has been received yet from Giuliani’s spokesperson regarding this ruling.

Giuliani’s derogatory claims about Freeman and Moss coincided with the Trump campaign’s attempts to contest the election results in several battleground states. He faces criminal charges related to election racketeering and has entered a not guilty plea.

In his accusations, Giuliani alleged that the election workers unlawfully hindered observers during vote counting, that they brought in “suitcases” filled with illegal votes, counted the same ballots multiple times, and secretly exchanged flash drives. This was asserted in the lawsuit brought by the women.

During a December 10, 2020 meeting with Georgia lawmakers, Giuliani claimed that Freeman and Moss were “clearly, in secret, passing around USB devices like they’re vials of narcotics.”

However, Freeman and Moss testified before a U.S. House hearing that they were merely passing out ginger mints.

As of now, Giuliani has not made any payments towards the civil judgment issued in December 2023, which accrues interest at a rate of 5% annually, as stated by Judge Liman.
