Lil Durk Taken into Custody in Florida on Charges Related to Murder-for-Hire Plot

Chicago rapper Lil Durk has been arrested in Florida on murder-for-hire charges

Rapper Lil Durk has been taken into custody in Florida on charges related to a murder-for-hire scheme.

The artist from Chicago, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested on Thursday and is currently detained in a Broward County jail, per arrest records accessed by YSL News. The 32-year-old Grammy-winning musician is waiting to be moved to U.S. Marshals’ custody.

Further details regarding the circumstances of his arrest have not yet been disclosed. This incident follows the indictment of five individuals on federal murder-for-hire charges for allegedly plotting against Georgia rapper Quando Rondo as retribution for the death of Chicago rapper King Von, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles obtained by YSL News on Friday.

YSL News has contacted Banks’ representative for a statement.

According to prosecutors, the five individuals arrested—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—have connections to Banks’ hip-hop collective, “Only The Family.”

King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was associated with this music group and was a close friend of Banks, collaborating with him on various projects, including the track “Crazy Story.” Additionally, Banks was featured on Von’s debut album, “Welcome to O’Block.”

In December 2020, Banks released a song called “The Voice” in honor of Bennett, who tragically died on November 6, 2020, at the age of 26 after being shot outside an Atlanta nightclub. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. during a dispute that escalated and led to gunfire, according to a statement from the Atlanta Police at the time.

Banks is recognized for hits like “All My Life” featuring J. Cole, “Broadway Girls” with Morgan Wallen, and his collaboration on Drake’s track “Laugh Now Cry Later.”
