Andrea Mitchell to conclude MSNBC daytime program following inauguration
Andrea Mitchell will be wrapping up her MSNBC program “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” but she will continue to have an impactful presence across various NBC News platforms.
The veteran broadcaster, 77, is stepping away from her hosting duties after having led the program since 2008.
“I’ve taken you all along as I reported on presidential summits and traveled with U.S. secretaries of state to places like Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Japan, China, Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Chad, Cuba, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, among other locations around the globe,” Mitchell shared with her audience on Tuesday, marking her 16 years on “Reports.”
She added, “Next year, you can still expect to see me in your homes, on your mobile devices, and across different platforms. You might even spot me in your cities while I continue to seek out the answers you need.”
Mitchell will retain her positions as NBC News’ chief foreign affairs correspondent and chief Washington correspondent. She will continue to appear during election coverage, major news events, and on programs like “Meet The Press,” MSNBC, “Today,” and “NBC Nightly News.” “Reports” has been the longest-running daytime show on MSNBC.
“As we gear up to cover a new administration, Andrea’s knowledge and reporting are more essential than ever,” stated a memo from NBC News executives Rashida Jones, Rebecca Blumenstein, Janelle Rodriguez, and Libby Leist. “Join us in celebrating Andrea’s 16 years at MSNBC’s anchor desk and her ongoing contributions to NBC News as we prepare for this crucial election.”
Since 1980, Mitchell has covered every presidential campaign for NBC News, participating in seven presidential administrations and twelve presidential elections since 1972. She marked her 45th anniversary with NBC News last year.
