WATCH: Yankees fans attempt to steal ball from Mookie Betts during World Series Game 4
NEW YORK – Regardless of how pricey World Series tickets may be, they do not grant fans the ability to disrupt the game.
Nor can they wrest the ball away from Mookie Betts.
Two fans of the New York Yankees were removed from the game after one of them was penalized for fan interference on a foul pop-up hit by Yankees leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres during Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
Umpire Mark Carlson in right field promptly called fan interference. However, that was not the end of the incident.
A fan sitting next to the one who was called for interference attempted to yank the ball from Betts’ glove, sporting a sheepish grin. The other fan appeared to argue that the ball was within the spectator area and therefore fair game.
Neither fan managed to obtain a baseball or win their argument. They were swiftly escorted out by stadium security, and a spokesperson for Major League Baseball confirmed that the fans were indeed ejected.
