‘The Diplomat’ Returns for Season 2: Essential Information, from Release Date to Cast
Keri Russell reprises her role as Kate Wyler, the U.S. ambassador to the U.K., in the second season of “The Diplomat.”
This Netflix political thriller is making a comeback on Halloween, just days before the U.S. election, ensuring it’s perfect for both celebrations.
The first season debuted in April 2023, concluding with Russell discovering that the British Prime Minister was behind an attack on a British warship, which led to her assignment in the U.K. According to showrunner and creator Debora Cahn, Season 2 will focus on Kate’s quest to uncover the truth.
“The U.S. and the U.K. do not spy on one another,” Cahn explained to Netflix. “In fact, they exchange all their intelligence. So how does one investigate the Prime Minister? Who can you trust?”
The first season earned Russell an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2023.
