San Diego State University Investigates ‘Diddy’ Halloween Costume Featuring Blackface and Baby Oil

The university stated that the individuals in the costumes have not been verified as students. The video showcasing the costumes has been removed.

San Diego State University is examining a TikTok video that displays a young white man dressed as Sean “Diddy” Combs in blackface, alongside a young woman dressed as a bottle of baby oil.

The costume of “Diddy” appeared in a TikTok compilation of couples’ Halloween costumes, which included a photograph of the young man wearing dark makeup.

This particular costume references allegations against Combs related to “freak offs”—parties at his Los Angeles residence linked to federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and other crimes involving prostitution. Authorities reportedly discovered over 1,000 bottles of lubricant and baby oil at these events.

Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, informed TMZ that his client is prepared to testify in court and has a detailed account of events.

The original TikTok video featuring the offensive costume has been removed, and the account that posted it is no longer active, although images from the video are still being shared online.

The individual who initially posted the video has ties to San Diego State University, according to shared screenshots on TikTok.

Are the Individuals in the Video San Diego State University Students?

In a statement released on Monday, San Diego State University confirmed that the woman who uploaded the TikTok video is not one of the individuals shown in it.

“In incidents like these, it’s crucial to acknowledge that spreading misinformation is damaging, and threats of violence are unacceptable and should not exist in our society,” the statement noted. “Additionally, as previously communicated, we cannot confirm that the individuals in the video are SDSU students; our team is actively working to gather more data, including the location and identities of everyone involved.”

In another statement issued on the same day, the university expressed that the actions depicted in the video do not reflect its values.

“The use of blackface and any insensitivity towards sexual assault are deeply troubling and have no place in our community,” the statement emphasized. “Any behavior that stereotypes or harms people based on their race or ethnicity, or belittles sexual assault, contradicts our values and undermines our dedication to fostering inclusion and belonging among students, faculty, and staff.”
