Beyoncé Fans Launch ‘Beyhive for Kamala’ Initiative Ahead of Presidential Election

As the election approaches, Beyoncé’s supporters are showing their backing for Vice President Kamala Harris, especially after the singer’s recent endorsement.

On Tuesday night, fans nationwide participated in a call titled “Beyhive for Kamala,” just hours before Harris addressed a rally in Washington, D.C., and a week ahead of the presidential election.

“Our appreciation for (Beyoncé) unites us and empowers us to support each other through challenges,” expressed Earline Johnson, a 28-year-old participant, during the call from Atlanta.

The national call aimed to mobilize fans to vote for Harris on Election Day, organized by Dr. Goddess (Kimberly C. Ellis), Lakesha Cole, who started the Beyhive for Kamala group, and Courtney Savoy Harper, who manages Clubhouse Beyhive, a community on the audio platform.

During the livestream, Ellis shared her eagerness to “vote out 45,” referencing a lyric from Beyoncé’s 2022 track “Energy,” in which she mentions voting against the 45th president, Donald Trump.

“We’ve facilitated several discussions on issues that matter to Beyoncé and our community. Her music motivates us to strive for the changes we seek. Since her Destiny’s Child days, Beyoncé has inspired me to stand up for my rights,” Johnson noted.

Rashad Trent, 28, from Charlotte, North Carolina, shared similar feelings.

“This initiative is crucial for me because it feels like a pivotal moment to inspire change,” he stated. “Many fundamental rights are at stake, and it’s our responsibility to unite and spread awareness.”

Various speakers were featured on the call, including LGBTQ+ advocate Anthony Washington, reproductive rights specialist Dr. Keisha Davis-King, LaTosha Brown from Black Voters Matter, and Jotaka Eaddy, founder of Win with Black Women.

Some confirmed speakers could not join the call, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, and Rep. Summer Lee, D-Pa.

Beyoncé Endorses VP Kamala Harris at Houston Rally

Recently, Beyoncé publicly supported Harris at a rally in Houston, her hometown, stating, “I’m not here as a celebrity but as a mother.”

Prior to this, Beyoncé and her family had backed Harris in various ways, including granting permission for her 2016 track “Freedom” to be used as Harris’ campaign anthem.

“Beyoncé’s agreement for VP Harris to use ‘Freedom’ as her campaign theme was the endorsement that the Beyhive craved. This call was in the works since then, making it even more special to have this event after Beyoncé’s appearance at the Houston rally,” shared 33-year-old Niguel Anthony from Atlanta after participating in the national call.

Numerous members of the Beyhive reported feeling motivated by Beyoncé beyond just this election.

“Beyoncé’s music and impactful lyrics help connect us through our shared experiences of resilience, pride, and activism. By exploring her lyrics and her journey in the realm of social justice, we find ourselves encouraged to engage in conversations that educate, motivate, and inspire,” remarked Mary Samoa, 40, who participated in the call from California.
