Two killed and six hurt in Halloween shooting incident in downtown Orlando; police have taken a suspect into custody
In a late-night shooting in downtown Orlando, two individuals lost their lives, while six others sustained injuries.
As stated by the authorities, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith informed that officers received reports of gunfire at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Friday near Central Blvd and Orange Avenue. A subsequent report of shots fired was made just minutes later around Washington Street and Orange Avenue.
Six individuals who sustained injuries were taken to local hospitals for additional care, with their conditions described as stable according to Smith.
Immediately following the shooting reports, a 17-year-old suspect was identified.
The young individual has been located and taken into custody. According to Smith, this teen was previously arrested for grand theft earlier in 2023.
“This investigation is ongoing. We will share more details as they become available,” Smith mentioned during a press conference on Friday morning.
