Canadian man arrested in Michigan with 370 pounds of cocaine in record county bust
A Canadian individual is facing charges related to the delivery of a controlled substance, specifically for possessing 1,000 grams or more of cocaine, after police found over 370 pounds of the drug.
Sukjindr Singh, 29, was taken into custody on October 15 when authorities stumbled upon the drugs in a semi-truck he was driving on Pine Grove Avenue, Port Huron, Michigan, during a routine traffic stop. This area is close to the Blue Water Bridge, which connects to Ontario, Canada, across the St. Clair River.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reported that this arrest marks the largest drug seizure in the history of the Drug Task Force, with the cocaine valued at an estimated $16.5 million.
Singh had his initial court appearance on October 18, during which his bail was set at $500,000. A preliminary hearing is slated for 10 a.m. on November 5.
Being found guilty of delivering a controlled substance of 1,000 grams or more can lead to a life sentence in prison and/or fines up to $1 million.
