Revolutionary AI System Makes Strides in Rapid Detection of Toxic Gases

Researchers have developed an AI-powered system that mimics the human sense of smell to detect and track toxic gases in real time. Using advanced artificial neural networks combined with a network of sensors, the system quickly identifies the source of harmful gases like nitrogen dioxide that poses severe respiratory health risks. Dixville Notch: The Pioneering Voting Tradition and 2024 Election Results

What were the Election Day 2024 results in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire?

In a surprising twist, Dixville Notch in New Hampshire recorded a tie during the presidential voting on Election Day, with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump each receiving three votes.

The polls opened at midnight on Tuesday, and all six residents cast their votes to decide who would be the next president of the United States, as reported by the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s office.

Dixville Notch is a small, unincorporated township situated about 10 miles east of Vermont.

The polls close when “everyone has voted.”

At midnight local time, all six residents participated in the voting, with an equal split between Harris and Trump, aligning with what polls had predicted for the broader election outcome.

This year, there is one more registered voter compared to the 2020 election, where the township boasted only five residents.

When will the rest of New Hampshire vote?

Voting hours across New Hampshire differ by town or city.

In Concord, the capital, polling occurs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., while in Eaton, voting is available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., based on information from the Secretary of State.

In Millsfield, located approximately 5 miles southeast of Dixville, voting hours are also from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Votes diverge from primary outcomes

While the election results were evenly split, the primaries offered a different scenario.

During the 2024 presidential primary, all six residents unanimously supported Nikki Haley, the Republican candidate and former U.N. ambassador.

A long-standing tradition

The midnight voting tradition dates back to 1960.

This practice started when Neil Tillotson successfully advocated for Dixville Notch to be recognized as an independent voting precinct in front of the New Hampshire Legislature, as reported by CBS News.

“This township is unincorporated and at that time, it had not been authorized to hold any official activities,” explained Tom Tillotson, Neil’s son and the current Town Moderator. “Nine residents gathered and voted at midnight. I don’t think there was much media attention that first year but that initiated the tradition.”
