Bruce Springsteen visits Jeremy Allen White on the set of the biopic ‘Deliver Me from Nowhere’
Bruce Springsteen is witnessing the filming of his biopic firsthand.
The iconic musician stopped by the set of “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” which depicts the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 album “Nebraska.” This visit occurred on a Monday in New Jersey, with images captured by Backgrid.
During his visit, Springsteen embraced Jeremy Allen White, the actor from FX’s “The Bear” who portrays him in the film. He was also seen alongside director Scott Cooper.
Filming took place at John’s Midtown Tavern in Bayonne, New Jersey, and in an adjacent parking lot designed to mirror a used car dealership from the late ’70s to early ’80s.
The film “Deliver Me from Nowhere” is based on musician Warren Zanes’ 2023 book, also titled “Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska,” which offers an insider’s perspective on the album’s creation, featuring insights from Springsteen himself.
In a photo shared by 20th Century Studios last month, White looked strikingly different as he took on the role of the New Jersey rock star. Dressed in a red and blue flannel shirt under a dark blue jacket, his usual blonde hair has been dyed dark brown as he gazes thoughtfully off-camera.
On November 1, Springsteen made another visit to the film’s set in Rockaway. There, he shared a hug with actor Stephen Graham, who plays his father, Douglas Springsteen.
“It has a great cast and I’m a little involved,” Springsteen mentioned on the U.K.’s “The Graham Norton Show” earlier this month. “This is quite a challenge because it’s important not to mimic; you need to present your own interpretation.”
The shooting will mainly occur in New Jersey and New York, with some scenes also being filmed in Los Angeles. The story will reflect the early 1980s, with a sequence set in Asbury Park, New Jersey, capturing the 1950s vibe.
Grant Wilfley Casting has announced casting calls for locals to participate as extras for various roles not associated with SAG-AFTRA.
