Penn State Police looking into viral incident involving Jason Kelce and a fan

Penn State University Police and Public Safety are currently investigating an incident involving Jason Kelce, where the former NFL player threw a heckler’s phone to the ground after being subjected to a homophobic slur directed at him concerning his brother.

Penn State Police representative Jacqueline Sheader confirmed to YSL News Sports on Tuesday afternoon that the investigation is still underway.

The event occurred outside Beaver Stadium on Saturday during the Penn State vs. Ohio State game and has been documented in the university’s police department’s daily crime log. They noted that an “officer observed a visitor damaging personal property” at the stadium, leading to charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

“Hey Kelce! How does it feel that your brother is a (expletive) for dating Taylor Swift?” the heckler yelled.

In response, Kelce turned around, snatched the person’s phone, and slammed it into the ground before picking it up and walking away. Another video showed the fan chasing Kelce, demanding, “give me my phone.” During this exchange, Kelce seemed to use the same slur back to the individual.

The former All-Pro center for the Philadelphia Eagles and current ESPN commentator expressed regret over his actions prior to the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, stating that he “lowered himself to a level he shouldn’t have.”

“Everyone has seen all the footage on social media this week,” Kelce remarked. “I’m not happy about anything that transpired. I’m not proud of it. In a heated moment, I responded to hate with hate, which is not a productive response.”
