Election Day 2024: Selena Gomez, Reese Witherspoon, and more stars encourage voters to ‘make our voices heard’

As Americans go to the polls this Tuesday, celebrities are sharing their voting experiences and sentiments.

It’s Election Day, and many celebrities are making their way to the polling stations.

As Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump compete in the U.S. presidential election today, stars are proudly displaying their red, white, and blue “I Voted” stickers while sharing their patriotic thoughts.

Pop star Pink posted a selfie on Instagram on Monday after she voted. The Grammy-winning artist announced that she supported Harris and her vice-presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

“We need to use our voices if we desire a world that mirrors who we truly are,” Pink stated. “Now is not the time to be passive; don’t leave the critical decisions regarding your life up to others.”

The “Dear Mr. President” singer urged her fans that their “vote is more important now than ever.”

“Vote for democracy, vote for love, and vote for respect,” Pink added. “Vote for your family, your friends, and your community. Support freedom of the press, reproductive rights, your right to vote, and your right to education free from religious encroachment. Vote for a better future. Vote for decency.”

Let’s see what other celebrities have to say on Election Day.

Reese Witherspoon advocates for women’s rights with her Harris vote

Reese Witherspoon cast her ballot early and shared a post-voting selfie on Instagram on Friday. The star of “The Morning Show” mentioned she voted for Harris due to the vice president’s views on reproductive rights.

“First and foremost, protecting women’s rights to medical privacy and reproductive choice was at the top of my mind as I considered all the candidates,” Witherspoon said. “It’s crucial during this pivotal moment in history to vote for the candidate that embodies the future we aspire to. That’s why I chose Kamala Harris for President.”

“For my daughter, and for the millions of diligent American women who cherish our freedoms. I am committed to safeguarding democracy at all costs. My love for my country remains steadfast, and regardless of the outcome of this election, I stand ready to unify our great nation.”

Queen Latifah shares fun Election Day video, critiques Donald Trump

Queen Latifah embraced the Election Day spirit by sharing a light-hearted “get ready with me” video on Instagram this Tuesday. In the footage, she’s seen preparing for the day in a stylish outfit featuring a black pinstripe shirt and a white turtleneck with “Vote” written on it.

However, Latifah got serious in her post caption, openly criticizing Republican nominee Trump.

“On one side, we have HIM, a criminal, a habitual liar, an impeached president, a misogynist, and a non-leader who only cares about the top 1%… neglecting over 300 million Americans,” Latifah expressed.

Conversely, she passionately supported Harris’ candidacy. “And then we have HER, Kamala Harris—a proven leader, a dedicated lifelong civil servant, a compassionate individual equipped to navigate our complex government while prioritizing the needs of all Americans… a candidate with a clear plan for progress.”

Julia Roberts supports Kamala Harris with Election Day selfie

Actress Julia Roberts expressed her support for Harris through a selfie she shared on Instagram this Election Day. The “Pretty Woman” star posed wearing a black graphic tee that displayed “POTUS,” with a pink female gender symbol.

“There’s a time to Hope, a time to Pray, and a time to VOTE. 🗳️” Roberts wrote alongside the photo. “TODAY IS THE DAY!”

Last month, Roberts campaigned for Harris in her home state of Georgia together with the vice president’s husband, Doug Emhoff, in a video shared on her Instagram.

“I have faith in my home state of Georgia. I believe in Kamala Harris,” Roberts declared then. “I believe in the future. And I cast my vote on November 5th for Harris-Walz.”

Selena Gomez encourages fans to endure long lines at polling stations

On Tuesday evening, Gomez released a public service announcement on social media addressing voters who were still casting their ballots as Election Day wrapped up.

“Hey everyone, I hear there are some really long lines today. I just wanted to make a quick video to say: Please stick it out in the line,” she implored in a video shared on X, previously known as Twitter, and her Instagram Story. “Long lines can be frustrating and a hassle, but we need your voice and vote for your future.”

“If you’re in line before the polls close, stay put. Even after closing, polling places will remain operational until everyone in that line has had the chance to vote. If you’re waiting before closing hour, you have a legal right to vote.”

She concluded, “So, please vote!”

Jennifer Aniston votes for ‘sanity and human decency’

Similar to her “Morning Show” co-star Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston also voted early. On October 30, the “Friends” actress shared on Instagram that she “very proudly voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

“Today, I not only voted for healthcare access, reproductive rights, equal rights, safe schools, and a fair economy; I also voted for SANITY and HUMAN DECENCY,” Aniston expressed. “We are incredibly fortunate have the power to VOTE, and this election relies on us!”

Aniston acknowledged that “we may not see eye to eye on everything, and that is what makes our country special,” but she expressed, “Aren’t you exhausted from the hostility between us? The intimidation and consistent threats towards those whose views differ?”

“Let’s put an end to this climate of fear, disorder, and assaults on our democracy – and choose a leader who will bring us together rather than drive us apart 🙏🏼” Aniston wrapped up.

More celebrities posting voting selfies: Lady Gaga, Demi Moore, Eva Longoria, and more

“Your vote is your voice!” Eva Longoria shared on Instagram.

Lady Gaga exclaimed: “I voted! Let’s make it happen! 💪💘.”

“Make sure to VOTE! This might be the most crucial election of our lives 🗳️” declared Brooke Shields.
