NYPD is on the lookout for shooter who injured man in Upper West Side and escaped into subway

Authorities are searching for a gunman in New York City following a shooting incident where he injured his former employer in the Upper West Side before disappearing into the subway system.

According to a spokesperson for the New York Police Department (NYPD), the incident occurred just before 9:20 a.m. at West 68th Street and Columbus Avenue, where Lincoln Business Machines Inc. is based.

Officers from the 20th Precinct rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call about a 47-year-old man who had been shot in the leg and shoulder by a suspect whose identity remains unknown.

Police indicated that the shooter fled the scene and went “into transit to parts unknown.”

No detailed description of the shooter has been released by the authorities.

The victim was taken to a hospital by paramedics and is reported to be in stable condition, according to the statement from the police.

While his exact condition was not confirmed on Friday, it is believed he will survive.

Reports indicate that the shooting victim was the shooter’s former boss

Reports from the New York Times and WABC-TV suggest that the suspect had been fired prior to the incident, confronted his ex-employer, and then fired at least six shots at him.

Fabian Barbecho, a worker at a nearby store, shared with WABC that his co-worker Santiago saw the victim covered in blood outside, emphasizing the horrific nature of the incident, as the victim simply wanted to start the day at the store.

Another local employee, Bart Hopkins, noted that the victim was often helpful, fixing computers at Lincoln Business Machines.

“He was always friendly and polite, soft-spoken. I just can’t imagine someone being upset with him,” Hopkins remarked to the outlet.
