Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Concert Film Overlooked by 2025 Grammy Nominations

Though Taylor Swift fans have likely enjoyed her film before, they were disappointed by its outcome. The singer’s record-setting film, “The Eras Tour,” failed to receive a nomination for Best Music Film at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

This nearly three-hour movie meets the award criteria, as the Grammy for Best Music Film is awarded to the artist, director, and producer of a concert or performance film or music documentary. “The Eras Tour” drew fans from around the world to theaters, where they joyfully danced and sang.

Swift’s film achieved remarkable success, earning over $250 million globally, making it the highest-grossing concert film in history. She negotiated directly with SAG-AFTRA during a challenging Hollywood strike, choosing AMC as her distributor instead of going through typical production studios. This savvy decision led to her earning a Golden Globe nomination in a newly created category for “cinematic and box office achievement,” although “Barbie” ultimately won the award.

Upon the announcement of the Grammy nominations, these five films were selected:

  • “American Symphony,” focusing on Jon Batiste and his spouse
  • “June,” highlighting June Carter Cash
  • “Kings From Queens,” covering Run DMC
  • “Stevie Van Zandt: Disciple”
  • “The Greatest Night In Pop,” detailing the famous charity single “We Are the World”

Swift garnered nominations in six additional categories. For her album “The Tortured Poets Department,” she is up for both “Album of the Year” and “Best Pop Vocal Album.” For her collaboration with Post Malone on the single “Fortnight,” she is competing for “Record of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Best Music Video.” Her joint work with Gracie Abrams on “Us.” is nominated for “Best Pop Duo / Group Performance.”

The Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for February 2 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with CBS providing the broadcast and Paramount+ streaming the event.
