Mike Tyson Wows Fans with Workout Before Jake Paul Bout

IRVING, Texas – Mike Tyson was in full swing – and in the ring.

For several months, fans have only glimpsed the legendary heavyweight champion training for his upcoming fight against Jake Paul through video snippets. However, during a public workout on Tuesday night, the 58-year-old Tyson gave spectators a taste of what to expect when he steps into the ring with Paul on Friday at AT&T Stadium, the home turf of the Dallas Cowboys.

All 14 boxers scheduled for the fight showcased their abilities during the open workouts, yet none received applause as thunderous as that for Tyson. He thrilled hundreds of fans at Toyota Music Factory by displaying flashes of his renowned strength.

“Kick his ass, Mike,” was a common chant as the crowd clearly expressed their desire for Tyson to deliver powerful punches to Paul, just as he demonstrated while hitting pads held by one of his trainers during the session.

While the workout certainly captivated the audience, it was brief, lasting only around three minutes.

“When I agreed to this fight and began training, I thought, ‘What the heck am I doing?’ ” Tyson reflected in the ring after his workout. “But I completed the training, and now the fight is the fun part.

“All the hard work is finished.’’

The evening wrapped up with Paul, who sported a rooster wig as a humorous nod to his latest nickname, El Gallo, while he boxed.

“I feel really good,” Paul stated in an in-ring interview. “I’m sharp, strong, and powerful. It’s going to be a quick night for Mike.”
