Opinion: Surprised Trump wants RFK Jr. to lead health? Republicans made it happen.
Donald Trump explicitly stated he wanted RFK Jr. to ‘go wild’ in health matters. Every Trump voter played a role in this choice.
The series of unconventional nominees continues under Trump’s administration, now featuring an anti-vaccine advocate potentially leading the Department of Health and Human Services.
If you’re struggling to keep track of all the appointments made by President-elect Donald Trump, his most recent selection is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the next secretary of HHS.
Why would he choose anyone else, right?
My aim today is not to dwell on how concerning this selection is for anyone who values scientific progress in health and human services. I’m also not here to defend HHS or the CDC’s handling of COVID-19 or various health crises.
There are more qualified voices who can analyze that issue.
This reflects the America that Trump voters envisioned
I’m here to remind Republican voters and Trump supporters that this is the outcome they chose. This is what they wanted. Frankly, this reflects what many American voters selected just over a week ago.
Trump has been transparent about his intentions regarding the federal government. He has never concealed his focus on ensuring unwavering loyalty to him and his extreme MAGA agenda.
All his recent appointments align perfectly with what we know about him. For nearly a decade, he has consistently been the same person: Donald Trump.
In fact, he was quite explicit about his desire for RFK Jr. to take bold action on health just last month during his controversial rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Trump expressed his wish for Kennedy to “go wild on health” among other things.
So, brace yourselves for the show, and those who voted for it are accountable for what’s coming. Get your popcorn ready, America. Everything is set to unfold, and now that Republicans control both Congress and the Supreme Court, we’ll witness just how “wild” Trump’s actions will be.
Sure, it’s alarming. But remember, voters got what they asked for, even those who chose not to participate or cast a “protest” vote.
Let the chaos commence and keep in mind the reason behind it.
